Greetings Herbison Woods Families,
Student NWEA winter benchmark reports will come home with students on Friday. Please remember that this benchmark score is one snapshot in time of your child's academic growth. It is not the only measure that we use. Teachers use daily formative and summative assessments in the classroom to give frequent measures of learning. All of this data is used to help guide both whole group and small group instruction for students. If you have any questions regarding these reports, please feel free to reach out to your child's classroom teacher.
Sincerely,
Alicia Ormsbee
Principal
HWE Families,
We are so excited to celebrate the respectful, responsible and safe behavior of all 4th and 5th graders with some fun games and a drawing for book tokens at an assembly next week. It is always refreshing to see the students cheer each other on, and get recognized for meeting our behavior expectations. Can you believe that each grade level has earned over 1,000 Panther Paws for meeting our school expectations? So impressive!
We also hope your HWE student(s) is proud of that accomplishment and recognizes that when you work together, good things come from it. Take a moment to let your HWE kid know how proud you are of them too!
In Partnership,
Rachel Nowak
The January Students of the Month were recognized for showing the character trait of Acceptance.
Students in Mrs.Cantu's, Mrs. Jones', and Mrs. Earl's classes are welcoming quail to their classroom this week!

With the winter weather upon us, please help your students to make good decisions about proper indoor and outdoor winter clothing. Students should wear a coat outside if the temperature is 50 degrees or colder. In the winter, students will go outdoors when the termperature is above zero degrees Farenheit. Please remind your child to bring the proper gear for this weather, and to wear it at recess. If you need support obtaining some of these items, please reach out to our front office. We are happy to help!
