Greetings Herbison Woods Families,
We have kicked off March is Reading Month with the theme "Every Book is a Journey". We kicked it off with a whole school assembly, the hallways are filled with decorations, and we have activities and spirit days planned as we get our students excited about reading. Please see below for specific information about the events for the month.
Our spring Parent/Teacher conferences are scheduled for March 17 and 19. We will be hosting both an in person and virtual night to accommodate various schedules. A SignUp Genius was sent out to families by email to register for a time. Please look for this if you haven't already signed up. If you would prefer an in person conference, as opposed to virtual, and all slots are filled, please reach out to your child's teacher. The links will close on Friday, March 13th. After this date, you will have to call the office to sign up for a time. We look forward to discussing your child's progress with you!
Sincerely,
Alicia Ormsbee
Principal
HWE Families,
Have you heard all of the great things going on at HWE? Recently we had an assembly to celebrate our student reaching their collective Panther Paw goal, we celebrated the end of hte trimester with hot cocoa and board game, and now, have kicked off March is Reading Month!
A huge shout out to the DeWitt PTA for supporting our schoolwide reading effort. Every child, and adult, are getting a chance to read the same novel, The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. I encourage your HWE student to share a quick summary of what they know about Edward so far. Keep checking in with your reader! Asking them about the story (and maybe even reading it yourself!) is a great way to strengthen the home-to-school connection.
In Partnership,
Rachel Nowak
Our students of the month for February were recognized for having the Panther Power of Integrity.
March is Reading Month is here! Herbison Woods is celebrating with the theme, "Every Book is a Journey". We have many fun events including an all school read of "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane", a coloring contest, bookmark contest, book trivia, spirit days, and more. Please see the following calendar for more information.
The Book Fair is coming to Herbison Woods March 12 - 19. Please see the flier for more information.
DMS Students had a basketball tournament and made tie blankets for a hospital with our fifth graders this week. This is part of an 8th grade impact project. It is a great partnership between DMS and HWE!
Fourth grade students participated in dissecting cow eyes this week.
