Greetings Herbison Woods Families!
I hope you are enjoying your last few days of summer vacation! I'm looking forward to meeting everyone next week at our open house on Wednesday, August 23 from 5:00 - 6:00! As a reminder, we will also have time available for self-guided tours on Friday, August 25 from 8:00 - 5:00.
Our front office will be open next week from 8:00 - 3:00, with the exception of Tuesday. Due to professional development, our front office will be open from 12:00 - 3:00 on Tuesday. If your child will be taking medication at school, you will be able to drop it off during this time, as well as at Open House.
Lockers will be new to our incoming fourth grade students this year. Lockers will be assigned at the beginning of the school year, and will not be available at Open House. Teachers and staff will be spending time practicing their locker combinations the first few weeks of school. We will have staff ready to support students as they need.
Below you will find some important information about the start of the school year. The slideshow below will introduce some of our school staff, give an overview of the school, and outline some of our daily procedures.

Open House
Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, August 23 from 5:00 - 6:00pm. The school will also be open on Friday, August 25 from 8:00 - 5:00 for self guided tours of the building. Teachers and staff will not be available during this time, but it will be an opportunity to walk through the building.
Lockers will not be distributed at Open House. We will be assigning those to students at the beginning of the school year.
Office Hours Next Week
The office will be open beginning on Monday, August 21 from 8:00 - 3:00. Please note that due to professional development on Tuesday, August 22 it will only be open from 12:00 - 3:00.
Recess and Paraprofessional Positions
If you are interested in supervising recess or being a paraprofessional, we would love to have you join our team!

Breakfast and Lunch
School breakfast and lunch is available to all students and this year, both are free to all students due to a State initiative. More detailed information about our food service program and menus can be found here and will be updated soon.
Medication Information
In order for Herbison Woods Staff to administer medication to your child, you must:
Submit a completed district medication form to our office.
Be sure all medications are brought to and stored in our office.
Be sure prescription medication is in its original container accompanied with a physician’s signature.
Be sure non-prescription medication is in its original container accompanied by a parent’s signature.
Please communicate with your child's teacher if he/she takes medication daily at school.
If your child has a medical condition, please be sure to complete a Medical Management Plan for your child and turn it in at the office.
Medication and other medical forms can be found on our DeWitt Public Schools website.
Medication can be dropped off in the office during our office hours or during our Open House this week.
