A Message from Mrs. Ormsbee
Greetings Herbison Woods Families!
It has been a busy couple of weeks at Herbison Woods Elementary! Our fall activities have included, fall/Halloween parties, a preview of the Oklahoma musical at the high school, an assembly with author Jonathan Rand, and our annual Color Run. The students have been full of excitement and energy. We are now getting ready to honor our Veterans at an assembly on Monday, November 13 at 9:30. If you or a family member are a veteran and would like to attend, please fill out the following form. We are asking for our guests to arrive at 9:15 am.
We are quickly approaching Parent Teacher Conferences. Please sign up for a time to meet with your child's teacher. We look forward to meeting with you!
Sincerely,
Alicia Ormsbee
Principal
A Note from Mrs. Nowak
Herbison Woods Families,
Thank you for your support of the Color Run! We are excited to see students benefit from your generous donations and the donations of community partners.
Do you ever struggle to get your child to tell you anything about their day? Do you often hear the response of, "Good," when you ask your child about their day at Herbison Woods Elementary? One resource that you could start to use as a conversation starter is your child's planner. Not only is it an amazing organizational tool, but many classrooms use it as a way to communicate with families about what happened during the day. Designate a spot in your house for your 4th or 5th grader to put their planner and take a minute (or less!) to review what's inside. By knowing what your child is doing, you can have a more purposeful conversation and get more details about your child's day.
In Partnership,
Rachel Nowak
Updates from Mr. Rogers
Hello, HWE family and friends!
What an exciting and candy-filled week. In addition to multiple class parties, we've been chugging along with SEL Lessons. This week we talked about the different needs students have throughout our building and how to support each other. We've also gathered our SABERS data and are utilizing it to provide interventions for students that need assistance.
It is an honor to work alongside such an incredible team as we serve our amazing kiddos!
Color Run Fundraiser
The annual Color Run Fundraiser was a huge success. Students and staff had a fun-filled afternoon. Donations can still be made using the following link: https://dewittschools.revtrak.net/herbison-woods-elementary/#/f/color-run or by sending in your child's envelope and pledge sheet by Wednesday, November 8th. A special thank you to West Orthodontics for their generous donation to the event.
Jonathan Rand Assembly
One of our fourth grade students won a drawing for a visit to our school from author Jonathan Rand. All of our fourth and fifth graders were able to enjoy an assembly and order signed copies of his books.
Spotlight - Ms. Jones' Class
As they prepared for the festivities of the fall, students in Ms. Jones' Class decorated pumpkins this month. There was a pumpkin patch displayed outside the classroom for all to see.

The students at Herbison Woods had the opportunity to visit DHS, as they experienced a preview of Oklahoma from the high school students. This was an amazing opportunity for our students to hear and see the great things happening at the high school. They were a great audience for the cast!
